Henan Province holds a field meeting on the special campaign to strengthen food safety responsibilities at large supermarkets and wholesale markets for edible agricultural products.

Currently, Zhengzhou City has further enhanced its food procurement and safety management systems in large supermarkets and agricultural product wholesale markets. As a result, sellers operating in these food wholesale markets are now conducting their businesses more规范ly, and food safety awareness among practitioners has significantly improved, leading to a notable increase in their proactive commitment to fulfilling their primary responsibilities for food safety. So far, no food safety incidents have occurred in the city's distribution channels, and overall public satisfaction with food safety across the city has reached 74.49%. Staff from the provincial-level food and drug administration bureaus overseeing counties (and cities), along with representatives from several large supermarkets and operators of major wholesale markets for food products, observed firsthand the food safety management practices at four prominent retail and wholesale facilities: Zhengzhou Maozhuang Lvyuan Industrial Co., Ltd., Zhongyuan Four Seasons Aquatic Product Logistics Port, the David City store of Zhengzhou Dennis Department Store Co., Ltd., and the Zhengdong branch of Jinjiang Metro Cash & Carry Co., Ltd.
At the meeting, officials from the Food and Drug Administration bureaus of five provincial-level cities—Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Anyang, Shangqiu, and Zhumadian—shared their insights and experiences.

At the meeting, reporters learned that since April 1 this year, our province launched a special campaign to strengthen food safety responsibilities at large-scale food malls and supermarkets, as well as major wholesale markets for agricultural products. Under the overarching goal of "building a national model city for food safety," the Zhengzhou Food and Drug Administration has taken enforcing enterprises' primary responsibility for food safety as its key initiative. This effort has not only spurred large food retailers and wholesale markets to fulfill their food safety obligations but has also paved the way for innovative approaches to food regulation in the distribution sector.
Zhengzhou has taken the lead in developing and promoting the online learning and assessment software "ShiZhengTong" APP across the province, allowing food safety officers to download it for free and access training anytime, anywhere. As of now, a total of 40,659 food safety officers across the city have participated in the online training program, with 4,686 of them successfully passing the assessment and earning their Food Safety Officer Certificates.
The city organized eight major wholesale markets for food and agricultural products to carry out third-party, public evaluations aimed at ensuring food safety responsibilities are fulfilled by the market operators. The evaluation results are promptly released to the media, creating strong incentives for businesses to take full responsibility for food safety.
We are guiding merchants in developing the "Traceability Pass" traceability system, which allows users to simply scan a QR code with their mobile phones to instantly access the merchant’s business information—such as certificates of origin for food products, purchase receipts, or compliance documents. Additionally, once a transaction is completed, the system automatically generates a unique transaction QR code that securely includes details about both parties involved in the deal.
