System Overview

Food is the foundation of people's well-being, and food safety must come first. Ensuring safety on our plates is crucial to both national stability and people's livelihoods—protecting what ends up on consumers' tables is an urgent priority. As a major logistics hub and wholesale trading market for seafood, livestock products, and frozen foods in China's central and western regions, Zhongyuan Four Seasons Aquatic Product Logistics Port serves as a vital distribution center that supplies goods to over 20 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country. To uphold food safety standards, the company actively fulfills its responsibilities as the primary entity driving food safety through digitalization, establishing a robust and comprehensive food safety management system. We’ve also increased financial investments and accelerated the development of our information network infrastructure, providing solid support for fully implementing routine regulatory measures. First, we’ve set up a dedicated Food Safety Informationization Leadership Group, led by our company’s General Manager, He Lihong. The team includes 12 experienced informationization instructors and one technical supervisor, tasked with guiding merchants in effectively using the "Traceability Pass" software and promoting its adoption across the supply chain. Second, we’re intensifying training efforts for the software. To ensure smooth implementation, we regularly invite technical experts from Zhuhai Huaso to provide hands-on training sessions for our informationization instructors. After each session, instructors are required to demonstrate their proficiency by guiding merchants firsthand, followed by testing participants with written exams. Additionally, we distribute informative materials to merchants to raise awareness about the benefits of the system. Finally, we remain committed to continuous improvement, constantly refining and enhancing the software based on real-world usage. By staying adaptable and innovative, we aim to elevate the practical application of our digital tools and further strengthen food safety assurance across the board.

Food safety traceability systems are the future trend in market development. With forward-thinking leadership, the company, under the guidance of regulatory authorities at the provincial, municipal, and district levels, invested heavily in June 2018 to jointly develop a market traceability platform—Traceability Pass software—with Zhuhai Huaso Software Technology Co., Ltd. Now, consumers can simply scan a merchant’s QR code to instantly access detailed information about the product, its origin, the manufacturer, and relevant certification documents. The system also features an advanced online ordering function, enabling customers to browse products and place orders seamlessly—all while facilitating the electronic management of cold storage warehouse entries. This June, the company further upgraded the Traceability Pass software, paving the way for full digitalization of every step—from a product’s entry into the market to its eventual departure. This end-to-end, fully digitized traceability system allows businesses to track customers upstream and trace manufacturers downstream, ensuring comprehensive oversight of food quality and safety. By enabling real-time tracking, risk management, and accountability, this system empowers companies to swiftly recall problematic products, pinpoint their origins, and assign responsibility when quality or safety issues arise. Ultimately, it reinforces corporate accountability for food safety, safeguarding both consumer trust and public health.

After merchants complete a transaction using a handheld POS terminal, a new QR code is generated on the automatically printed transaction receipt. Customers can then use this QR code to access comprehensive information about their purchased products, providing a robust guarantee for tracing the origin of agricultural and food items. To further expand the digital channels for food traceability, the company will establish an end-to-end cold-chain logistics information system covering everything from transportation to storage.

On September 29, 2018, the provincial on-site conference on food safety was held in Zhengzhou, where leaders from food and drug administration bureaus across the province inspected the company’s food safety oversight practices. On December 11, leaders from the State Administration for Market Regulation, accompanied by key officials from provincial and municipal departments, conducted a field visit to the Logistics Port Seafood Market. On January 24, 2019, He Jinping, Vice Governor of Henan Province, along with Tang Yuanyou, Director of the Henan Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, and other members of their delegation, personally reviewed the implementation of market entity responsibilities, cold-chain storage management, and information technology initiatives at the Zhongyuan Four Seasons Seafood Logistics Port. They highly praised the market’s robust food safety management, its advanced traceability system, and the recent upgrades and improvements made. These positive developments have positively impacted the company’s growth, strengthening its competitive edge and brand visibility while providing valuable support to merchants operating within the market.
