“General Secretary Xi spoke so eloquently—it’s not only easy for us ordinary people to understand, but also straightforward enough for grassroots officials like us to put into practice. This provides our farmers with an even clearer path toward prosperity and a better life!” On the afternoon of October 18, Wu Xieen, a delegate to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Party Secretary of Huaxi Village, immediately called Tao Kuijun, one of the village’s key leaders, right after stepping out of the venue where the opening session of the congress had just concluded. Through that call, he shared his excitement—and deeply personal reflections—about listening to General Secretary Xi’s report, connecting in real time with the more than 50,000 villagers and employees who were thousands of miles away.

"In the future, we must move forward toward becoming Zhongkang and Dakang!" Speaking about strengthening villages and enriching farmers, Wu Xie'en emphasized that under the leadership of the Party, Chinese farmers have seen their pockets grow fuller, their confidence soar, their dignity restored, and their sense of happiness significantly enhanced. Among all, the people of Huaxi Village feel this transformation most deeply—today, thanks to an industrial shift focused on "transforming quantity into quality and physical labor into intellectual work," Huaxi residents have expanded their presence across China, from Beijing and Shanghai to Shenzhen and Chongqing. Moreover, riding the wave of the Belt and Road Initiative, Huaxi villagers have now reached out to numerous countries around the globe. Over the past 50-plus years since its founding, Huaxi has remained steadfastly aligned with the central government’s vision, staying focused amid external influences while staying true to the needs and aspirations of its own people. As a result, the village has already achieved moderate prosperity, with each resident now enjoying an average annual income of 90,500 yuan.

Village officials stationed far away in Huaxi also assured Wu Xie'en that all village activities were proceeding smoothly and efficiently. Early in the morning, villagers gathered at five live-broadcasting stations strategically placed throughout the village to watch the opening ceremony together. According to statistics, over 10,000 residents—both officials and community members—tuned in via these live venues or accessed the event through alternative channels like online platforms and radio broadcasts. Everyone expressed their determination to seize this rare opportunity for development, rallying around the grand vision of the "Chinese Dream." Their shared goal is to transform Huaxi into a "rural metropolis," striving relentlessly toward the ambitious "Two Centenary Goals": building Huaxi into a century-old enterprise and a century-old village by the year 2100.
